Berkshire Resource Project, Inc. is a nonprofit organization incorporated in April 2006. Its office is located in Pittsfield, MA and it serves the surrounding areas of western Massachusetts, southeastern Vermont, and northeastern New York. Its mission is to help people with MS and their families live a better quality of life through education, support and information.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a complex chronic neurological disease of the central nervous system that affects all aspects of one’s life. Advancements in the field of MS have improved the ability to diagnose and treat the disease. Onset is usually between the ages of 18 and 60, making it a prime of life disease, impacting people just when they are starting families and careers. There are presently over 450,000 cases in the U.S. and over 2.5 million world wide. The disease is found more frequently in the Northeast than in other regions of the country. It affects more women than men. A new case is diagnosed every hour. There is currently no cure for MS.
